Can you say "UNCHARTED WATERS"????  Today the album "Take it With You" has hit number 10 on Blues Albums and number 9 on Heat Seekers Pacific Billboard Charts.  I am completely floored, excited, humbled, and ready to ride this wave.  Thank you to all who are purchasing, air playing, supporting, etc!  Love ya!

The Pre-Sale has begun!

Would you like to help me get on the Billboard Heat Seekers chart?  In other words, would you like to support me in making my dreams come true?  FANTASTIC!  Click to pre-order now.  If I sell enough by the official release date of 11/7, I can definitely be on the road to success.  THANK YOU!

So I made a thing....

Actually, WE made a thing, as in Ben Nieves, Chris Horton, Unlikely Legends Productions, Neil Campisano, Zack Proteau, Brett Vaughn Rechtfertig, supportive spouses, babysitters, and I, made a thing.  Tomorrow it is off to the pressing plant and you will hear a heck of a lot more from me once it's all shrink wrapped and in my hands.  Enjoy our promo thingy:

The Waiting Is The Hardest Part....

We will be launching our pre-sale for the new album "Take it With You" in October, with official release date November 7th.  Stay tuned!

Finished tracking the new album

We are in mixing phase!  I cannot wait to release this new 10 song original album titled "Take it With You" on October 1st!  The band sounded amazing- Neil Campisano on drums, Zack Proteau on bass, Brett Vonrechtfertig on guitar, Chet Chwalik on trumpet, Al Bent on trombone, Scott Brill-Lehn on back up vocals, and yours truly on vocals, keys, dobro, harmonica, and tamborine.  Chris Horton is engineering at The Recording Place in Rocklin CA.

Mini Tour April 2018 Opening for The Robert Cray Band

I am over the moon excited to be opening for The Robert Cray Band at 3 gorgeous theater venues in April.  4/20 The Fox in Redwood City, 4/21 The Rio in Santa Cruz and 4/24 at The Crest in Sacramento.  More to come!

Just opened for Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentlemen

Last night I had the pleasure of opening for one of my idols, grammy winning New Orleans force of nature Jon Cleary.  We played at the new Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts and I fell in love with that room.  Great sound and hospitality.  Jon's bassist Nell and drummer A.J. were very nice.  I was able to chat with Jon briefly on various topics, including about what a loss Allen Touissaint was as well as chat with his lovely tour manager and wife.  Great group of people and super grateful for the opportunity.

2017 Sac Film Fest Winner

Thank you Robert Yoshino, director of the latest music video for the song "Parade of Pain".  His hard work won us the 2017 Jury award for best music video in the Sac Music Seen series of the Sacramento Film Festival.

Nominated for a Sammie!

The Sacramento News and Review has nominated me for Best Blues Artist for 2017.  This is a huge honor for me, and also a very motivating nudge of encouragement.  To say that having 2 kids in the last 2 years has been a challenge is quite the understatement.  Here is what I have learned from the trenches of parenthood in regards to music:

1) My love for music has been tested like never before, and I can now say that the love runs deeper than I ever thought possible.  2) Every minute I get to practice or write a lyric is an incredible gift.  3) I will continue to put one foot in front of the other, learning, teaching, creating, and sharing.  Forever.

Now is the time to vote for me!  Please go to, login with your facebook, and find me under "Blues Artist."  I would really appreciate it!  The deadline for voting is May 29th.

While on maternity leave with baby #2, I am writing lots of juicy blues tunes for the next album.  Stay tuned!

Recording while pregnant

I admit it was a bit of a challenge recording in my last trimester of pregnancy.  Brian Poole of Sketchpad recording was very patient with me and assisted in the heavy lifting aside from engineering.  35 days until my due date, I'm happy to release the first of many holiday singles.  This one, a New Orleans traditional titled "St. James Infirmary," is fitting for Halloween.  I had the pleasure of working with clarinetist Otis Mourning, and he blew me away!  It can be purchased here or on the "buy cds/mp3s tab".  Enjoy!

Dear Friends,

I am so happy to announce after many years we are having our first baby, due Dec. 2nd. Due to my pregnancy being high risk I was told by my doctor not to perform during my pregnancy. The old me would have been pretty depressed about this, but I now see this as a major growth and writing opportunity. I will accept this with open arms in hopes to not be forgotten by all of your wonderful supportive selves while I dive into new learning. For those that could not make Chickapalooza, enjoy the video clip. I was already 2 months along :-)  I plan on sharing more videos over the coming months. .

Lots of love and please keep in touch,

Katie Knipp and The Heart Miners

I am so excited to be debuting my new band, The Heart Miners, on 4/19.  On drums, Rose Cangelosi, on bass, Casey Lipka, and of course my existing guitarist Ed Stoner will still be on board.  He's got the best tone this side of the Mississippi!

Sacramento Film Festival

An honest to goodness real video was made by Natasha Alston and Amir Haeri to the song Gone to Town and will premiere at the Sacramento Film Festival in September. Stay tuned for ticket info and show time!

Recording 4th Record!

We just finished tracking all of our parts for the latest EP last week. It was a blast! This year, instead of a full length album, I am recording 5 great tunes with more instrumentation than ever before-- me on piano, acoustic guitar and vocals, Ed Stoner on electric guitar, Peter Philis on Drums, Gerry Pineda on upright bass and electric bass, Samantha Olson on Violin, Chet Chwalik on trumpet, and Jeremy Springer on Hammond Organ. Producing this has been a wonderfully juicy project thus far. Stay tuned! Sincerely, Katie
